What is the HOP* TriMet charge?

Why am I seeing HOP* TriMet on my statement?

A charge starting with "HOP*" appears when you use the Hop Fastpass transit system. You might see this if you tapped a contactless credit/debit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay directly on a green Hop reader to board a TriMet bus, MAX light rail, WES commuter rail, or Portland Streetcar.

You will also see this charge if you reloaded a physical or virtual Hop card online, via the Hop mobile app, or if an "Auto-Load" rule was triggered when your card's balance dropped below a certain threshold.

Because Hop Fastpass uses "fare capping" (where you earn day passes automatically as you ride), the system may aggregate multiple taps across a single day and process one total charge to your bank account.

Unrecognized or accidental charges

If you see a "pending" charge of a small amount (like $0.00 or $0.10), it is a temporary authorization hold to ensure your card is active. It will clear shortly.

Accidental charges can happen if you lean against a reader with your purse or wallet, or if you tap your wallet to use your Hop card but the reader detects a different credit card instead (Card Clash).

How to look up your transaction history

1. Go to the official Hop Fastpass website at myhopcard.com.
2. Use their "Contactless payment transaction history" search tool.
3. Enter the bank code shown on your credit card statement alongside the transaction date to view exactly which transit stations or buses the fare originated from.
