No accounts, no signup

UnknownCharges does not require an account. There is no login, no email collection, and no way for us to identify you as an individual.

No search tracking

The descriptor search box runs entirely in your browser. Your search queries are never sent to our servers, stored, or logged. We do not know what you searched for.

Cookies and tracking technologies

UnknownCharges itself does not set proprietary tracking cookies to profile your behavior across visits. The site works the same way on every visit without requiring an account. However, third-party analytics and advertising partners (Google Analytics and Google AdSense) use cookies to measure aggregated site metrics and serve relevant advertisements.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to measure aggregate, anonymous traffic trends and site usage (such as popular charge searches and page views). Google Analytics sets cookies on your browser to measure interaction metrics. You can opt out of Google Analytics data collection by using Google's official Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Advertising

UnknownCharges displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites across the Internet. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve relevant ads to users.

You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time by visiting Google's Ads Settings page. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page at optout.networkadvertising.org, or by visiting aboutads.info.

Local storage in our interactive tools

Two of our tools — the subscription tracker and the recurring charge auditor — save the lists you enter in your browser's local storage so your entries survive page reloads. This data never leaves your device: it is stored only in your own browser and is never transmitted to us. Clearing your browser's site data (or using private mode) removes it.

Everything else, including every search, runs entirely in your browser and stores nothing. The PDF statement decoder parses your statement locally and discards the file when you close the page.

Your light/dark display preference is also stored in your browser's local storage so it survives page reloads; it is never transmitted to us.

Analytics

UnknownCharges may use privacy-respecting, anonymous analytics (such as aggregate page-view counts) to understand which charge pages are most useful. These analytics do not track individuals, do not use cookies, and do not identify visitors.

Third-party fonts

UnknownCharges loads fonts from Google Fonts. Google may receive your IP address as part of this request. No other third-party services are used.
