What is the TICKETMASTER charge?

Ticketmaster's guidance on verifying where you bought is short: check your bank statement to confirm who processed the payment. If the statement lists Ticketmaster, use Ticketmaster's contact form. If it lists another name, you may have bought from a third-party seller and should contact that seller directly.

Tickets that someone bought elsewhere and transferred to you show a $0.00 total on your Ticketmaster receipt, because Ticketmaster did not charge you for the transfer. So a $0 order in your account next to a real charge on your card usually means the money went to another seller, not to Ticketmaster.

Find the order and receipt

Tickets bought on Ticketmaster.com appear automatically in your account under My Tickets. The receipt shows the total paid, including fees and taxes, which is the number to match against your statement. Ticketmaster says receipts are not available in its app or for events that took place more than 90 days ago.

If you cannot find an order, sign in with the email address the confirmation was sent to. People with more than one Ticketmaster account should check each account and inbox, and tickets bought in separate orders can appear under different order numbers for the same event. For sports or theatre events, Ticketmaster also suggests checking your team's account through am.ticketmaster.com.

1. Open the receipt Sign in to your Ticketmaster Account, find the order in My Tickets, and under Your Order select View Order Receipt.
2. Check for a pending charge before buying again If you see a pending charge but no order, Ticketmaster says to check your account first; an order that was placed shows its status right after you sign in. Only try the purchase again if you do not see an order or a confirmation email.

Why the charge is more than the ticket price

Ticketmaster says the upfront price covers the face value set by the event organizer plus required fees. Service fees are charged once per ticket and typically include card processing costs. Some events add a facility charge set by the venue, which Ticketmaster says it does not keep.

Other charges are added at checkout based on your choices or location: a delivery fee only if you pick a method such as mail or courier, and city, state and local taxes based on where the event takes place. Compare these lines on the receipt with the bank amount.

Refunds and suspicious activity

Refund eligibility depends on the event organizer's policy and refund window, and Ticketmaster says it cannot override a no-refund policy. When refunds are offered, a Request Refund button appears on the order in My Tickets. Ticketmaster says refunds go to the original payment method and should appear within 5-7 business days, depending on your bank.

Ticketmaster says it will never ask you to buy gift cards, wire money or pay a fee to transfer tickets, and that any refund goes back to the original payment method. In its data security notice it advises monitoring bank accounts and contacting your bank or card company if you notice suspicious activity.
