How Windscribe plans renew

Windscribe's knowledge base says all of its plans are subscriptions that renew automatically using the original payment method, with auto-renewal switched on as soon as you pay. Payments made with cryptocurrency or Paymentwall do not renew. A repeat charge on the same date each month or year is therefore consistent with an active plan that was never cancelled.

Cancelling only stops future payments. Windscribe gives the example of a one-month Pro plan cancelled on day 3: renewal stops, but Pro access lasts for the remaining 27 days. The same applies to annual plans.

Tracing an unknown Windscribe charge

Windscribe's article on unknown charges asks you to contact its Support Team through windscribe.com/contact-support if you see a charge you don't recognize on a bank or credit card statement, in PayPal or in mobile payments, so it can help identify the payment. It notes that support may ask for payment verification, so have the date, amount and payment method ready.

If the plan was started through Apple, Google Play or Amazon, Windscribe says the subscription must be managed and cancelled with that provider, so check those subscription lists as well as Windscribe's own billing page.

Cancel on the Windscribe billing page

Windscribe says an email unsubscribe link does not cancel billing; if you are still charged after cancelling, confirm the cancellation was made on the billing page of your account and then contact support. Its cancellation guide walks through the steps below, ending on a confirmation page that shows the date your Pro access ends.

  1. Open Subscriptions On your My Account page, open Subscriptions under Billing, find the subscription, open the menu next to its price and choose Cancel subscription.
  2. Confirm the cancellation Select Continue to Cancel, choose a reason and select Continue, decline any offer with No Thanks, Cancel, then select Yes, Cancel and keep the confirmation page.

Refunds and unauthorized charges

Windscribe's refund policy covers only the initial payment that started a subscription. Its knowledge base says the request must come within 7 days of purchase with less than 10GB used on the paid plan, while its Terms of Service say 7 business days and below 10 GB. Renewals are not eligible, Windscribe asks for troubleshooting first, and the terms say approved refunds are processed within 30 days.

If you believe the card was used without permission, the OCC's HelpWithMyBank guidance says to notify your bank promptly as your account agreement describes, and the bank must report the result of a credit card investigation within two complete billing cycles or 90 days, whichever is less. This page cannot decide whether a payment was authorized.

Can I get a refund for a Windscribe renewal?

Not under the published policy. Windscribe says only the original payment that started the subscription can be refunded, within its 7-day window and under 10GB of use.

Will cancelling end my Windscribe Pro access right away?

No. Windscribe says cancelling stops future payments and the plan stays active until the end of the period already paid for.

Read Windscribe's unknown-charge, auto-renewal, plan-expiry, cancellation, still-charged and refund knowledge base articles plus its Terms of Service and OCC credit card guidance. Corrected the refund policy from an outdated 3-day window to the current 7-day, under-10GB, initial-payment-only policy, and corrected the cancel steps to the current menu labels. Removed the unsourced Build-A-Plan price, free-tier details, generic filler paragraphs, the empty dispute section, the unsupported fraudRisk and homepage-only sources. Exact statement text remains unconfirmed.
