The short answer
FLYWHEEL CHARGE may be a payment to Flywheel, the managed WordPress hosting service whose help pages carry a WP Engine copyright. Flywheel is also a common business name, and the reviewed pages do not show how Flywheel payments appear on a statement, so this match is unconfirmed. Check whether you, your company or a web developer has a Flywheel account, then compare the date and amount with the invoices on that account's Billing page.
What Flywheel bills for
Flywheel sells hosting subscriptions that can be paid monthly or annually; its billing guide says to email [email protected] to switch between the two. A card or PayPal account can be used as the payment method.
Separate from the plan price, Flywheel's overage guide says it charges $2 for every 1,000 monthly visits over a plan's limit and $1 for every GB of storage over the limit, rather than shutting a site down. Overages are charged to the card on file on the account's monthly anniversary, which Flywheel calls the Fly-versary, and are billed monthly even on an annual plan. They appear as a Visitor Overage Charge or Storage Overage Charge on the monthly invoice. A smaller charge between annual renewals could therefore be an overage, which the invoice will show.
Why did Flywheel charge me in a month when my annual plan did not renew?
Flywheel says visit and storage overages are charged monthly on the account anniversary even for annual plans. Check that month's invoice for a Visitor Overage Charge or Storage Overage Charge line.

Find the invoice and the account owner
Flywheel's billing guide says the Billing page opens from the user dropdown in the top corner of the Flywheel dashboard. Subscriptions owned by an organization are reached with the context switcher in the same corner. Invoices go to the site owner by default, and the owner can add other recipients, so the person receiving invoices may not be the person whose card is charged.
Agencies often set up sites for clients. Flywheel's transfer guide explains that a developer can send billing for a site to a client by email, and the client becomes the subscription owner once they pay. If a developer built your site, ask whether billing for it was transferred to your card. Flywheel also offers demo sites that are free for 14 days before billing is set up.

Cancelling a Flywheel subscription
Flywheel's cancellation guide says only the owner can cancel a subscription owned by an individual; collaborators cannot. Any member of an organization can cancel that organization's subscriptions. After you request cancellation, Flywheel's billing team confirms by email. On the cancellation date you lose the sites and backups on that subscription, so Flywheel's site deletion guide recommends downloading a recent backup first and removing DNS records that point to Flywheel afterwards. Subscriptions are cancelled one at a time, and for a Tiny or Starter plan, deleting the site offers the option to cancel its subscription.
- Open Billing From the user dropdown in the top right corner, select Billing; use the context switcher for an organization's subscription.
- Request cancellation Click Details for the subscription, hover over the gear icon, choose Cancel subscription, leave feedback if you want, and click Request Cancellation.

If no one recognizes it
For billing questions, Flywheel's help pages direct customers to [email protected]. Give the date and amount so the team can look for an invoice. If no Flywheel account explains the charge, the payment may belong to a different business using the Flywheel name. If you believe the card was used without permission, the OCC's HelpWithMyBank guidance says to notify your bank promptly as your account agreement describes, and the bank must report the result of a credit card investigation within two complete billing cycles or 90 days, whichever is less.

Read Flywheel's billing, overage, billing transfer, cancellation and site deletion help docs plus OCC credit card guidance. Removed the InMotion and A2 comparisons, generic cloud-provider filler about free tiers and terminating resources, the vague refund FAQ and refundWindow, the boilerplate fraudRisk and homepage-only CFPB and FTC sources. Identity is left unconfirmed because the descriptor is a generic name and no page shows Flywheel's statement text.
- Flywheel is a managed WordPress host with billing help pages under a WPEngine, Inc. copyright; the descriptor is a generic business name and no page documents its statement display.
Other businesses use the Flywheel name; the match is a lead, not a confirmation.
