A PROVISIONAL CREDIT is not a confirmed final settlement or merchant refund. It is a temporary statutory credit supplied by your bank while investigating your dispute claim.
Significado de PROVISIONAL CREDIT
Under Regulation E (12 CFR § 1005.11(c)), if a bank cannot complete its investigation into a notice of electronic fund transfer error within 10 business days, it must provisionally credit the consumer's account for the amount of the alleged error (plus interest if applicable) while concluding its investigation.
Provisional credits give you full access to the disputed funds while the bank reviews merchant records and card network evidence (which can take up to 45 or 90 days depending on whether the transaction was foreign, point-of-sale, or on a new account).
If the bank ultimately determines that an error did occur, the provisional credit becomes permanent. If the bank determines no error occurred, it must provide written notice before revoking the credit.
