The Automated Clearing House (ACH) is the foundational electronic payment network operated jointly by the Federal Reserve (FedACH) and The Clearing House (EPN).
It processes billions of consumer and commercial transactions annually, including payroll direct deposits, social security disbursements, mortgage payments, utility debits, and peer-to-peer transfers.
ACH transactions operate in batch files and typically settle within 1 to 2 business days (or same-day for qualifying Same Day ACH entries).
