Understanding the Retool charge
Retool is a low-code platform that allows engineers to quickly build internal software (like admin panels or customer support dashboards) by dragging and dropping UI components and connecting them to databases.
Retool charges based on a per-user seat model. For example, the Team plan charges a monthly fee for every standard user and external end-user who accesses the platform. If you see a fluctuating amount month-to-month, it may be due to adding or removing team members, or utilizing consumption-based features like Retool Workflows.
- Identify the account owner Retool is typically purchased by engineering, product, or IT leaders. Ask your technical teams if they recently deployed an internal tool.
- Review the invoice If you are the admin, go to Settings > Billing in your Retool instance to see a detailed breakdown of user seats and usage charges.

To stop Retool charges, an admin must downgrade the organization to the free tier or cancel the account entirely. If you only want to reduce the bill, you can archive inactive users so you are not charged for their seats.
- Log into your Retool workspace as an administrator.

- Downgrade to the Free plan, or go to the 'Users' tab to disable inactive accounts.
