The Real-Time Payments (RTP) network is the first modern core payment infrastructure built in the U.S. in over 40 years, launched by The Clearing House in 2017.
Unlike ACH batch files (which pause on weekends and federal holidays), RTP operates continuously 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Funds sent via RTP are available to the recipient within seconds with immediate confirmation.
Widely used for instant merchant payouts (like Uber/DoorDash driver instant cashouts), payroll advances, peer-to-peer wallet transfers, and time-critical insurance claim disbursements.
