What is the LifeLock charge?

Seeing an unfamiliar 'LifeLock' or 'Norton' charge on your bank statement is often related to a subscription renewal.

Charges often appear as 'NORTON*LIFELOCK', 'NORTON*SUBSCRIPTION', 'NORTON AP' (automatic payment), or 'SYMANTEC' (for legacy accounts).

Auto-Renewals and Refund Scams

Most Norton/LifeLock plans are set to renew automatically by default. You may have also had a free trial that converted into a paid subscription.

Be aware that refund scams are common. Scammers may send fake emails claiming you have been charged a large amount and provide a phone number to call for a 'refund.'

  1. Step 1 Search your inbox for receipts or 'automatic renewal' notifications from Norton or LifeLock.
  2. Step 2 Visit the official Norton/LifeLock account portal (my.norton.com) to view active subscriptions and billing history.

Should I call the number in the email receipt?

Do not call phone numbers provided in suspicious emails. Always use official contact channels found on the verified website.

Dispute Rights & Fraud Prevention

If you suspect this charge is fraudulent or billing in error, you have strict federal rights protecting your account.

Always review your statement carefully and take action within 60 days.

What should I do if I don't recognize this charge?

First, check with family members or anyone authorized on your account. If the charge remains unrecognized, contact your bank immediately to report it. Under the Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA), you have 60 days from the statement date to dispute unauthorized credit card charges.

How long does it take for a disputed charge to be removed?

Once you file a dispute, your bank must acknowledge it within 30 days and resolve it within two billing cycles (not exceeding 90 days). During this time, the disputed amount is usually placed on a provisional hold, meaning you do not have to pay it.
