Significado de NSF

An NSF (Non-Sufficient Funds or Insufficient Funds) fee is assessed by your financial institution when an incoming check, ACH transfer, or recurring bill debit exceeds your available account balance and your bank declines to pay it, returning the item unpaid to the merchant.

Unlike an overdraft fee (where the bank chooses to pay the transaction on your behalf into a negative balance), an NSF fee occurs when the bank rejects the payment outright.

Under CFPB supervisory guidance and regulatory crackdowns, many major U.S. banks have eliminated or reduced NSF fees on consumer accounts.
